What is it?
Model Student is a collaborative project with students to construct an informational report aimed at understanding how students have been incorporating Artificial Intelligence (particularly Large Language Models) into their education.
As AI becomes more relevant to education, it is crucial that we foster an open dialogue around its usage, which requires input from students. It’s safe to say that while LLM use in undergraduate academia (and perhaps academia as a whole) has lots of unexplored potential, there are also uncharted risks. We’re trying to get a better sense of what the students are thinking regarding this new technology. Our aim is to understand how the landscape of academia and education is/if at all is shifting.
The event is a socratic seminar style discussion with guided questions and zero judgement.
Our goal is to create an informational report for faculty and the university that bridges the gap between AI policy and student experiences.
How to Participate?
Fill out a short google form! There will be a random selection process to create anonymous focus groups consisting of 5-10 students. Groups will then participate in a socratic-style discussion pertaining to AI in the classroom, mediated by one of our student research assistants.
